NKL Div 5 2010 Final Replay 2010 v Asdee 'B'15/07/2010St. Senans 5-07 Asdee 'B' 3-03 AFTER the spectacular display by both sides in their drawn game expectations were high for another cracker in the replay, but the Senans boys were not going to be denied on this occasion. They were first to score after just fifty seconds – James Barry with a point from a free – but their lead was short lived when Charlie Dalton crashed the ball passed Tom Stack in the Senans net for the first goal of the game to put Asdee into the lead. While Senans took command of the game at centrefield and were piling on the pressure the failed to put scores on the board and had a number of scoreable chances, but it was Asdee’s Jermiah Tydings with a point from play on the eighth minute who scored next. Asdee were finding it hard to hold the Senans boys, who were having the better of the contest really in all sections of the field but were failing to put scores on the board. On the thirteenth minute James Barry had a point from play to reduce the score to two points, but on the quarter hour Senans took the lead once again when Tom Moroney got Senans’ first goal. It was a lead they were to hold right to the end of the game. At this stage Senans were really motoring, running the Asdee boys ragged and on the 21st minute Mike Behan had another goal for Senans. With twenty nine minutes gone Asdee lost Niall Doran to an injury and he was replaced by Kieran McElligott. The killer blow came for the Asdee lads deep in injury time when Senans were awarded a penalty. James Barry coolly slotted past John Kennedy. In reality this was game over. It was hard to see how Asdee could turn this game round. The second half was only six minutes old when Senans added another goal scored by Johnny Daughton and really the Asdee lads never got going at any stage in this game. Their main marksman Jermiah Tydings was well held on the night and to be honest they need this young man to be on song. While they did add two more goals, the game was out of sight for them. Overall it was an entertaining and sporting game. Senans did have a player sent off for a second bookable offence midway through the second half, but never, at any stage, were they in danger of losing this game. Tom Dillon presented his fellow club man Johnathan Caffrey with the cup.
